Copied!

The school bell has rung and class is back in session. This time, the material to learn can increase your lead generation, earning you an A+ on your end of year bottom line.

Remember hearing those golden rules: sharing is caring, treat people how you want to be treated, and always listen? Well, those same three rules are going to have a part in how to increase lead generation for your firm.

Sharing is Caring

Get your specialized information out there to your persona.

The goal here is to reach your persona as frequently as possible. At the minimum, a couple times a week share tips, thoughts, and advice on topics that are helpful for the audience you are trying to reach.

Sharing specific tips and other pieces of information makes the persona/target audience form an impression of your firm as the experts.

Having found all that helpful and expert advice you have shared will make your firm’s name stick out in the persona’s mind.

The more you share by using social media - writing chats, posts, comments, and tweets - the higher your lead generation will be.

Blogging is another sure fire way to show those future prospective clients that you are the “go-to” people in your industry.

Being the first firm to pop in the person’s mind and viewed as the expert “go-to” firm is all because of the time you took to share with others.

Treat Others As You Want To Be Treated

If I had to guess - someone in your childhood probably told you to treat others as you wish to be treated.

This holds true even in the business world of lead generation.

We live in a fast-paced life of smartphones, tablets, and laptops, and we spend at least half our day looking at one or all three of them.

Skype, GoToMeeting, emails, texting, instant messaging, and even the conference call on the run, intertwine in how we communicate with friends and family.

Those face-to-face days of doing business are almost extinct. How do you bring back trust, once earned by a handshake, when doing business across the nation from device to device? The answer: treating others with respect.

No industry or occupation can afford to neglect this rule. You have spent the time and money on identifying your firm’s persona.

They value your input and time. Now you need to show them the business ethics you learned on the first day of school!

Treating others as you want to be treated will show your confidence in the projects you take on.

This golden rule is accomplished by following a few courteous gestures:

  •  Always return a call, even if they do not meet the persona.

  • Call to reschedule an appointment the minute you realize your schedule has changed.

  • Never talk over another person. You are the expert; that is why they came to you for answers.

  • Remember it is a give and take relationship and these clients trust you.

  • Show the same respect for the persona and what you expect from them.

Those five simple ideas are all ones taught early in life. Now those same golden rules take on a newer, professional meaning.

Always Listen

Listening is learning!

When we are stuck on a project, we listen to radio for our favorite song, and we listen to news and weather for current events among other things.

Listen to your persona, understand what they are looking for, become that outstanding firm.

Listening to your buyer persona can take those few calls a year, into a lead generator from the heavens.

It is human nature to talk about ourselves, our businesses, and our life’s experiences - where we have been, where we are going, and what we are looking for. These are all ideas we need to pay attention to when trying to increase lead generation.

Finally, whatever you do, be an active listener, taking notes if you have to. This gives you more freedom when working with that possible lead.

These are great and easy tips to help you start in the next chapter of your marketing strategy. Take some short time and practice these three simple rules, and you'll have the basics of lead generation down!
